A-330 to A-320 Cross Conversion Qualification (CCQ) This short course provides for training and certification on the Airbus A-320. Those wishing to take the CCQ course must be current and qualified on the Airbus A330. If your currency has expired, you will be required to re qualify on the A-330. The amount of time required on the A-330 is dependent on how quickly you can demonstrate proficiency. Normally it should not take longer than one four-hour session. Once you are proficient and current on the A-330, the cross conversion course to the A-320 is as follows. Ground School The ground school consists of 5 days of CBT (computer based training) interspersed with FMGS (flight management guidance system) or the MCDU. We combine the computer program training with procedures training as well as your systems training all at the same time to give you maximum immersion. FTD (Flight Training Device) The next phase of the course consists of 1 FTD session of 4 hours. (2 hours PF and 2 hours PNF). 1 FBS (Fixed base simulator) session consisting of (2 hours PF and 2 hours PNF). The FTD covers the normal and abnormal operations during all phases of the flight from start-up to shutdown. Particular emphasis is placed on the MCDU programming and the differences between the A-330 and the A-320. FBS (Fixed Base Simulator) This portion of the training is preformed in the full flight simulator with no motion. The training consists of aircraft taxi, takeoff and general handling of the aircraft during engine outs and single engine overshoots. FFS (Full flight Simulator) This portion of the CCQ mimics the actual check ride that will be preformed by Transport Canada. The following is a guide as to what might be expected during the check ride. Abnormal starts Start After start Taxi Takeoff Rwy 26L YVR 2 engine takeoff Climb to 5000 feet Stalls Steep turns Climb to 350 Rapid depressurization emergency decent. After successful completion, an A-320 type rating will be endorsed on your Canadian Pilots license. Alternatively, those students wishing to have the A-320 type rating on their domicile license should obtain a certified letter from Transport Canada. This letter will be accepted by your domicile Civil Aviation Authority, and they will register the type rating on your domicile license. Cost The cost of the CCQ course is $9900.00 US. Minimum Requirements Transport Canada has a minimum requirement of 250 hours total time, before you can under go a type rating with us. You also must have a valid pilot's license and a multi-instrument rating, either an Airline Transport Rating or have completed the Transport Canada multi crew exam. World wide acceptance of Your Rating Unlike American licenses, Canadian licenses may be accepted in other ICAO countries. For students that hold French or British licenses and acquire 500 hours on type, and undertake a successful JAA simulator check ride with an approved TRTO. You will be granted a JAA/JAR type rating on your Euro license. There are an increasing number of countries (Belgium, Denmark, Australia, Luxembourg, Serbia, Jordan and others) that only require a letter from Transport Canada acknowledging that you have met all the requirements in successfully attaining a type rating. With this letter, you do not have to write off ANY Canadian exams, nor attend a medical exam and will have the rating endorsed on your license in your domicile country. Accommodation while on course If you wish to share a room with your partner, there are B&Bs close to the training center for $21.00 Canadian per night. The rooms are clean and you have kitchen privileges. Employment with your Endorsement Active has established an agency in Thailand and other Asian countries for the purpose of finding employment for you. After you have completed the rating, our relationship will continue (without charge) until we find you job. We will obtain a recommendation from your instructor, package your training files, and send out your resume to our agents so that they can actively work to find you a first officers or Captains job on the aircraft you trained for. We also have working relationships with various Airlines. Your resume package will also be sent to them for review. We know that if we find you a job, you will recommend us to others. And it is our policy to financially reward you for any referral. Time Building From time to time we come across Airlines that will allow you to buy line time. When this accommodation arises, we will promptly forward this information on to you. Security Check Unlike the United States, Canada does not require a national security check, or a waiting period. An in-house security check is only required for use of the simulator facilities. This check is done when your application is processed.
